August 2017 my mother and I went on an art pilgrimage to the 57th Venice Biennale. We took an apartment for a month and ensconced ourselves in a spectacular world of art and food. We trod the well-worn cobblestones that are Venice from gallery to gallery, piazza to piazza, ferry to ferry.
To say that our minds were blown is an understatement. Too many to mention, but I was particularly enamored by Tracey Moffat’s show at The Australian Pavillion, “My Horizon” and Damien Hirsts’ extraordinary shipwreck fantasy, “ Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable”.
