This was a fun project.

The brief to customise a standard, factory delivered, shiny, santorini black Land Rover Defender 90, with the intention of  ‘pimping’  it out, was a ‘no limits’ challenge.

I had seen luxury cars in matte black overseas , but not an off-road vehicle. I loved the idea of the contradiction, mixing the two together.

Defender’s have always had a cult following around the world and have, since I designed this one, been discontinued. Only 25,000 were previously handmade in the UK every year.

Their military, tough look is what held their held their appeal, so the idea of combining this with all the comforts of a new car, was an interesting challenge.

A matte black paint job, a mock crocodile leather interior, customised light lenses and matt’s, let’s  just say, the transformation was radical.
